Biography

As the Maritime & Port Energy program manager at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), Shannon is dedicated to advancing the lab’s research portfolio through innovative research, strategic planning, and efficient project management. Her expertise spans maritime and port energy innovation areas, including emerging technologies like microgrids and electric vehicles, future fuels like hydrogen and biofuels, and integrated planning across these topics and broader transportation systems. Shannon was the first author of PNNL’s Port Electrification Handbook, a resource used by ports and stakeholders to inform investments in emerging maritime technologies.

Shannon’s previous experience includes roles at Rivian Automotive in the city of Seattle, where she developed and implemented emerging mobility technologies. At the Seattle Department of Transportation, she served as principal investigator for a Department of Energy–funded transportation electrification project with national partners. Shannon is committed to fostering collaboration among diverse stakeholders to address complex energy challenges, particularly for the maritime sector.
