Dr. Seth Wood is an automation engineer within the Earth and Biological Sciences Directorate at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL). He specializes in the automation of microbiology research workflows and micro-particle analysis via secondary ion mass spectrometry.

He joined PNNL as a postdoc in 2023 after finishing his doctoral degree with a focus on isotope biogeochemistry. Dr. Wood has expertise in stable and radiogenic isotope analyses and scanning electron microscopy, as well as experience with X-ray diffraction, neutron diffraction, synchrotron X-ray fluorescence, and systems modeling. He is also skilled at developing automated data-processing pipelines using Python, training and tuning machine learning models, and automating and integrating analytical instrumentation.
