Biography

Samrat Acharya is an electrical engineer at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL). He joined PNNL in 2022 after earning a PhD that year in electrical engineering from New York University. Prior to attending New York University, he received a master’s degree in electrical power engineering from Masdar Institute of Science and Technology in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, a program in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He received a bachelors of engineering degree in electrical and electronics engineering from Nepal Engineering College, Pokhara University in Nepal. He has worked on several projects funded by prestigious organizations, including the National Science Foundation, U.S. Department of Energy, European Union, and Masdar-MIT Collaboration. He has a passion for advancing the field of clean, reliable, and secure energy systems and specializes in power systems analysis, transportation electrification, power grid reliability and security, data-driven decisions in energy systems, and demand-side management.
