Biography

Nicole Harvey was born and raised in Bozeman, MT where she currently resides. She began her professional career at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) in November 2022. At PNNL, Nicole focuses on energy resilience and security and brings a wealth of experience conducting feasibility and resilience studies for for the Department of Defense.

Nicole has spent a bulk of her time at PNNL working on geothermal energy projects for all ranges of geothermal energy including ground source heat pumps, direct use heating, and geothermal power. She has contributed to projects evaluating the feasibility of these technologies across the Department of Defense (DoD) enterprise and in the commercial sector. Her work is also driven by a keen interest in industrial energy, an area she delved into while working at the Industrial Assessment Center during her graduate studies. Some industrial projects in her portfolio include assessing onsite energy opportunities (including geothermal) at manufacturing and large energy facilities for the Industrial Technologies Office (ITO) and assessing the feasibility of utilizing hydrogen at the Army’s Organic Industrial Bases (OIBs).

Nicole holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from South Dakota State University and a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina State University.

Nicole is passionate about the preserving the environment and also getting out to explore it. In her free time you can almost always find Nicole outside with her dogs, Malley and Boom, hiking, climbing, backpacking, or skiing.
