Biography
Nawaf Nazir is a staff scientist in the Energy and Environment directorate (EED) at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL). His work is in the modeling, optimization, and control of energy systems and transportation systems utilizing optimization theory, control and estimation theory, power markets, and power systems engineering.
Nazir is the principal investigator of several multi-million-dollar Department of Energy and ARPA-E projects related to energy security and resiliency, for which he manages a diverse team of researchers at PNNL in addition to collaborating with academia, government, and industry. He has spearheaded and chaired several workshops and panels at venues such as the IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES) General Meeting, PES Grid Edge Technologies Conference, American Control Conference, INFORMS, Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, and Transportation Research Board (TRB).
Nazir is a senior member of IEEE, an associate editor of IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, an associate editor for IEEE Power Engineering Letters, an associate editor of IEEE Control Systems Society, a member of the IEEE Transportation Electrification Council, and a member of the Transportation Energy committee of TRB.
