Biography

Mukesh Gautam is a Research Engineer with the Optimization and Control group at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL). He received the B.E. and M.Sc. degrees in electrical engineering from Tribhuvan University, Pulchowk Campus, Nepal, in 2013 and 2017, respectively, the M.A. degree in economics from Tribhuvan University, Patan Campus, Nepal, in 2019, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Nevada at Reno, Reno, in 2022. Prior to joining PNNL, he was a Power and Energy Systems Researcher at the Idaho National Laboratory for one year, an Electrical Engineer at the Budhi Ganga Hydropower Project under the Department of Electricity Development, Ministry of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation of Nepal, for four years, and a Lecturer at the Kathmandu Engineering College, Nepal, for two years. During the final year of the Ph.D. degree, he worked as a National Science Foundation-Funded Collaborative Researcher at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, for six months. His research interests include power system optimization and control, power system resilience, the application of machine/deep learning in power systems, and renewable energy integration.
