Biography

Matthew Fayette completed his PhD work at SUNY at Binghamton under the direction of Professor Nikolay Dimitrov in 2013. The main emphasis of his PhD work was on the Electrochemical growth and catalytic performance of Platinum ultra-thin films towards Formic Acid Oxidation. Following his Ph.D. work, Dr. Fayette completed his first Postdoctoral Appointment at Cornell University, where he focused his efforts on using electrophoretic deposition to showcase enhanced kinetic performance of Cobalt Oxide nanoparticles for the Oxygen Reduction/Evolution reactions. This was followed by a Guest Scientist appointment on NIST, where he observed In-situ Stress Measurements during the Electrodeposition of Cobalt on Gold substrates. After a brief foray into industry, Dr. Fayette joined the staff at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in 2019, where he is working on the development of Zinc-ion Battery materials.
