Martin Klein
Biography
Martin Klein is the Group Lead for Research Information Management (RIM) in the Research Computing Division at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL). In this role he develops strategies for the collection, curation, publication, and preservation of scientific information. The scope includes but is not limited to manuscripts, data, software source code, protocols, workflows, slides, videos, etc. He is an advocate of Open Science principles, repositories as publication platforms, transparent peer review, and preservation of all knowledge.
Prior to PNNL, Martin was a scientist and lead of the Prototyping Team in the Research Library at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), a scientific developer in the Research Library at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), and postdoc at LANL. Throughout his career, his focus has been on research and development efforts in the realm of information management, scholarly communication, web archiving, and digital system interoperability.
He is involved in standards and frameworks such as Memento, ResourceSync, Signposting, and Robust Links. Martin holds a Diploma in Computer Science from the University of Applied Sciences Berlin, Germany, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Old Dominion University.
