Jordan Henderson
Biography
Jordan Henderson joined PNNL in 2009 as a research engineer in EI&BD where he currently serves as the group leader for the Distributed Systems Group.
Throughout Jordan's time with PNNL he has demonstrated an enduring commitment to research and leadership in energy resilience and sustainability. Recently, Jordan and his research teams work on projects where they develop, enhance, and test methods to strengthen site vulnerability assessment and mission assurance planning through the design and operation of resilient buildings and connected systems, and the identification and prioritization of technology-based solutions and operational strategies. Jordan also spent three years on assignment in the Washington D.C. area supporting the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Installations, Energy and Environment (IE&E). In this role, he provided on-site support and program management to the Army's Office of Energy Initiatives (OEI) in the development of large-scale, renewable, and alternative energy projects aimed at improving the Army's energy security and resilience posture.
He also helped deploy and measure green strategies and practices in the design, construction, and operation of federal facilities (including on the PNNL Richland campus where he helped several buildings obtain LEED certification).
Before joining the Laboratory, Jordan worked as a structural engineer for the engineering and architecture firm, AECOM, contributing design concepts, 3D modeling, and performing structural analysis for various projects. Jordan earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering at the University of Idaho and is both LEED and PMP certified.
As the Distributed Systems Group Leader, Jordan stewards the capabilities of the group's 60+ staff as they integrate technologies and solutions to address some of the most critical energy systems challenges:
- Electrical grid modeling and analysis
- Distribution system architecture
- Valuation analysis of distributed resources
- Renewable system integration
- Energy equity and environmental justice
- Resilient operation of Federal facilities
