Biography
Ian is a Post-Bachelor's Research Associate in CIT's Research Computing division who has completed projects throughout the lab in frontend development, API exposure, software risk analysis, and AI agent development. Prior to joining PNNL, he spent a summer researching ransomware in Industrial Control Systems at Idaho National Laboratory. He graduated magna cum laude with a BS in Computer Science and a BS in Cybersecurity from the University of Idaho, earning additional recognition as an Outstanding Senior in Computer Science and recipient of the CyberCorps: Scholarship for Service award.
Ian's research and development interests cover a swath of computer science and cybersecurity fields such as firmware development, machine learning, and secure networking. Technologies he's been playing with recently include Rust; databases like Qdrant, Postgres with pgvector, and SQLite; and multiple agent development packages including LangChain, fast-agent, OpenAI Agents, and Claude Agents. He aims to be adaptive enough to use the best tool for each solution.
