Biography

Erin Bredeweg is a biologist with the Functional and Systems Biology group in PNNL’s Environmental Molecular Sciences Division and the Environmental Molecular Sciences Laboratory (EMSL) user program. Her research encompasses cell biology, fungal biology, signaling and regulation, genetics, and synthetic biology. Bredeweg’s current PNNL projects aim to improve synthetic biology capabilities for exploration of gene functions, visual phenomics systems, and support of bioproduct/biofuel production. 

For the EMSL user program, Bredeweg is a fungal biologist and geneticist. Her interests include utilizing the enzymatic and biosynthetic power of fungal metabolism, the importance of localization in cellular function, and ways to use cell biology insights for design of useful products and capabilities. Her current areas of work will deepen our understanding and application of fungal cell biology and address national fuel and product provision from the U.S. Department of Energy missions.
