Biography

Dr. Deseree (Reid) Tennyson is an analytical chemist within the National Security Directorate. Her work focuses on mass spectrometry of small molecules in complex samples for applications in forensics, source attribution, environmental monitoring, and product quality control.

She also uses native mass spectrometry to study proteins and their associated ligands for applications in drug design and development, as well as in basic research.

While studying at the University of Montana, she was an intern at the Montana State Crime Lab. She then spent four years working as an analytical chemist in industry before returning to school for her doctorate at the University of Arizona. Her research interests include membrane proteins and antimicrobial peptides, native mass spectrometry, and fast photochemical oxidation of proteins and peptides.
