Biography

David Brown is a software developer and member of the Research Data group at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL). Brown is also an adjunct professor at Washington State University, teaching computer architecture.

He joined PNNL and the Environmental Molecular Sciences Laboratory (EMSL) team as an intern in 2006, and the following year became a member of the research staff. Brown worked in the Molecular Science Computing group supporting new high-performance computing and storage systems for the EMSL user program. Brown helped design and build EMSL’s internal research data management system.

Since 2018, he has been focused on bringing research data management processes to PNNL more broadly. In doing this work, he’s supported research efforts across PNNL’s research portfolio: soils microbiology, artificial intelligence/machine learning, nuclear non-proliferation, and materials science. On every project, Brown helps researchers improve the quality of their products and data.
