Biography

Danny Edwards is involved in the characterization of radiation damage and materials forensics of structural materials, encompassing advanced materials development for fusion reactor designs, corrosion/stress corrosion cracking of light water reactor components (stainless steels and Zircaloy), materials for high energy physics targets/components, and environmental interactions in solid oxide fuel cells and transportation materials. He has worked on various projects for the U.S. Department of Energy, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and for private clients, such as the Electric Power Research Institute, Rolls-Royce, TEPCO, AREVA, and General Electric.

Edwards has extensive experience in the field of electron microscopy and mechanical testing. He leads a team that specializes in materials characterization for reactor materials and mechanical design, and he oversees numerous electron microscope laboratories on the PNNL campus.
