Danny Edwards
Danny Edwards
Biography
Dr. Edwards participates in a wide range of experimental research on materials for various applications, including structural materials for nuclear reactor environments, materials for transportation applications, solid oxide fuel cells, and materials for radiation detectors. The main focus of these projects involves relating changes in mechanical and physical properties to changes in the microstructure as measured by electron microscopy and metallography techniques. Analytical and conventional transmission electron microscopy figures prominently in much of his work, including high resolution chemical analysis of grain boundaries and crack tips, as well as characterizing small defects and second phases. He recently managed the acquisition and installation of a world class aberration-corrected transmission electron microscope, and manages the microscopy operations for the RMMD group. Dr. Edwards has authored over 40 publications within these areas of research listed above, and has presented at and chaired various sessions at radiation effects symposia within the international community. Dr. Edwards has worked extensively with researchers from other national laboratories across the world, as well as collaborated directly with industry researchers across a wide of materials related research.
