Biography
Born in Indiana and raised in Butte, Montana, from 4 years old, Chance Younkin received a BS in computer science from Montana Tech in 1988. He then pursued an MS in computer science, concentrating on visualization, at Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana. Following his graduation from Montana State University, Younkin joined Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in July of 1991. He has been there ever since and has worked as a software developer, architect, project manager, and task lead on projects ranging in topic from Air Force cockpit software to molecular visualization, atmospheric science, text visualization, data quality, and—for the last 20 years—cybersecurity. Younkin leads software and system security analysis projects in a range of areas, including building technology, nuclear, secure wireless, and radiation monitoring systems. He is passionate about building bridges among researchers, engineers, and operations in the cybersecurity domain.
