Biography

Brian Milligan is a materials scientist in PNNL’s Applied Materials & Manufacturing group. His research focuses on solid phase processing of metals and functional materials, mainly using PNNL's Shear Assisted Processing and Extrusion (ShAPE) technique. His current areas of emphasis include aluminum alloys, thermoelectric materials, and magnetic materials. Prior to PNNL, Brian attended Colorado School of Mines for a PhD in Metallurgical & Materials Engineering, where his thesis focused on in situ characterization of aluminum alloys during deformation with an emphasis on precipitate-dislocation interactions.
