Angie Melville
Biography
Angie Melville is a chemist with the Chemical and Biological Signatures Group within the National Security Directorate. Since joining the lab in 2000, she has made notable contributions across various research domains. Her work has been instrumental in characterizing Hanford tank waste and developing innovative analytical methods for biological agents and toxins. Melville has also enhanced the lab's capabilities in detecting and analyzing hazardous substances. Additionally, she was part of the COVID-19 response team. Her expertise is further demonstrated by her research on fentanyl and other controlled substances, which has aided in their detection and in understanding their impact. Most recently, she has focused on addressing the critical environmental and safety concerns related to Hanford tank farm vapors.
