Biography

Akhila Sriram joined Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) in August 2024 as a communications professional supporting projects within the Energy and Environment Directorate (EED), specifically in the water power sector. But this isn’t Sriram’s first time at PNNL: she participated in the Young Women in Science internship program in 2012 and 2014, learning about grid-level energy storage and the science behind solar panels during those respective summer internships.

Prior to joining PNNL, Sriram has worked at Optimal Strategix Group, Inc. (OSG) and Epic Health Systems, and served two AmeriCorps service terms at City Year Seattle King County. Her students during City Year inspired her to pursue a master’s degree in library and information sciences, which she completed while working at Epic and OSG.

Sriram was born and raised in the Tri-Cities, and currently lives in Richland. She enjoys attending all sorts of arts performances, from pop and symphony concerts to musical and ballet performances. She spends the rest of her free time reading, cooking, watching K-dramas (Korean drama shows), and spending time with family and friends.
