Electric Cars in 2050: Are we Ready?

A presentation by Malini Ghosal Transportation accounts for about 30% of the greenhouse gas emission. For a cleaner future, electrification of transportation is a must. It is projected that by 2050, up to 75% of the new car sales will be electric cars. But, is the nation’s electric grid ready? In this talk I will discuss our initial findings about the nation’s electric grid’s preparedness to host the electrification of the transportation. This talk will discuss the intricacies of the co-evolution of both the transportation and electric grid in order to help prepare the nation for staying in track for a cleaner future.
