Abstract
This invention describes noninvasive ultrasonic techniques to determine the particle size, density and solids concentration in slurries. The unique approach utilizes ultrasonic backscattering, diffuse fields, and attenuation measurements. Specifically, for the first time the measurements are utilized to elucidate the physical properties of the solid-liquid suspension by calculating a single parameter for direct comparison between all the above measurements.
