A new technology was developed to use triethyl phosphate (TEP), a low-cost aprotic organic solvent, for membrane recycling, such as Nafion membrane at low temperature . We found that Nafion 211 membrane can be broken down at 40oC and be fully dissolved at 50 oC in this aprotic organic solvent. Our experimental results also showed that TEP had better dissolubility than other aprotic organic solvent, e.g., Dimethylacetamide (DMAC), at the same temperature.
