The virtual retinal display projects an image of a digital display directly onto the retina of the observer, which is viewed with relaxed accomodation of the eye focused at infinity. Virtual retinal displays are not unknown and are a subject of current research and product development. However, all efforts known to us employ a single raster scanned beam. The invention proposes an alternative scanning method to increase the performance and simplify display design.
