Layered sodium metal oxide materials with excellent capacity, voltage and cycle life have been developed for sodium-ion batteries. These materials have the potential to enable long-life sodium ion batteries with practical energy densities. These layered cathodes have advantage of utilizing abundant, and low-cost elements which will translate well for large scale production of sodium ion.
