Andrea Wilkerson, lighting engineer at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), has been named to the inaugural editorial board of LEUKOS, The Journal of the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES).

Wilkerson, whose term began January 1, 2023, will initially serve for two years on the board.

The new editorial board structure consists of eight lighting experts from organizations such as the KTH Royal Institute of Technology, the University of Oregon, and the National Institute of Standards and Technology. The board will use their diverse perspectives and expertise to work together to further the aim of LEUKOS as an “international venue for technical developments, scientific discoveries, and experimental results of current interest or lasting importance in the applied use of light.”

Wilkerson will partner with Minchen Wei, an associate professor from Hong Kong Polytechnic University, to manage papers submitted covering an array of “other topics,” which includes display technology, horticulture, non-visible irradiation, and photobiological safety.

Wilkerson joined PNNL in 2013. She is a senior lighting research engineer who focuses on evaluating emerging lighting technology for the Department of Energy’s Solid-State Lighting Program.

She serves as president of the International Association of Lighting Designers Education Trust Board of Directors and participates on the National Council on Qualifications for the Lighting Professions Exam committee, the Oregon State University School of Civil and Construction Engineering Industry Advisory Board, and the IES Educational Facilities, Libraries, and Offices committee.

The IES was established in 1906 and is the recognized technical and educational authority on illumination.
