Users of the Atmospheric Research Measurement (ARM) facility selected Earth scientist Susannah Burrows as one of seven new members of the user executive committee, representing aerosol modeling. The committee provides user-focused feedback to the ARM leadership and reports to the ARM Technical Director, Jim Mather.

“ARM measurements play an important role in my current research and have provided a great deal of value to many atmospheric sciences researchers. I’m excited to join the ARM user executive committee and be able to play a role in representing the needs of the ARM user community.” said Burrows.

Burrows was elected to a four-year term, joining the seven continuing committee members, including PNNL Earth scientist Adam Varble. Burrows’s work focuses on interactions between atmospheric composition and climate, particularly those involving the biosphere. She recently led the first stages of building and integrating a fully coupled carbon cycle modeling capability into the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Exascale Earth System Model. Her U.S. Department of Energy Early Career Award project, awarded in 2018, uses ARM measurements to improve our understanding of atmospheric ice-nucleating particle sources.
