The future reliability and resilience of the electric grid cannot remain stationary and governed by previous research; the advances in telemetry, sensors, and data collection and processing must be driven by needs of the industry.

The purpose of this webinar series is to grow the awareness of current grid-related research for data and sensors and to identify gaps and opportunities for further work that will accelerate technological advances.

Please join us for the Power Sector Transmission & Distribution Data and Information Webinar Series on October 11, 18, 25, and November 1, 2023, sponsored by the Department of Energy, Office of Electricity.

Researchers from academia, government, and industry will be presenting their work on the four topics below.

  • Webinar Topic 1 (October 11, 2023): Transmission & Distribution Information Sharing

  • Webinar Topic 2 (October 18, 2023): Cross-sector and Open Data Sharing and Risks

  • Webinar Topic 3 (October 25, 2023): Sensor Systems/Platforms

  • Webinar Topic 4 (November 1, 2023): Sensor Data and Device Research

During these two-hour webinars, attendees will learn about the following transmission and distribution data and information research efforts to explore:

  • Emerging grid data needs across transmission, distribution, and the grid edge in a distributed, decarbonized future.
  • Cross-sector and inter-organizational data sharing and risks for grid planning, operations, and research.
  • How to operationalize new and diverse data sources and analytics.
  • Establishing trust in measurement and data integrity and detecting anomalies.

Webinars are free and open to all interested parties. Webinar registration is required.

If you have questions about the webinar series, please email the Energy Data Workshop Team.
