Soil vapor extraction and pump-and-treat are prevalent approaches for remediation of contamination in the subsurface. To determine an appropriate endpoint such treatment, we need to evaluate the remedy performance to determine how the remedy is progressing and whether contamination has been diminished sufficiently to meet the cleanup objectives. PNNL staff, working with other federal agencies, developed guidance on assessing remedy performance to determine appropriate next steps. This talk will discuss the approach to performance evaluation and the type of information that is used in a decision logic to select the path forward.
