Transmitters for Animals and Methods for Transmitting from Animals
Animal transmitters are provided that can include: a transducer configured to transmit a signal; process circuitry coupled to the transducer; and an energy harvesting element coupled to the process circuitry. Animals having a transmitter coupled thereto are also provided with the transmitter including an energy harvesting element in operational alignment with the animal's musculoskeletal system. Methods for transmitting the location of an animal are also provided with the methods including: coupling a transmitter powered by an energy harvesting element to the animal; and monitoring the transmissions of the transmitter.
NOVEL DIAMINE SOLVENT SYSTEM FOR CO2 CAPTURE (iEdison No. 0685901-18-0018)
We have developed a novel solvent system comprising of diamine molecules and ether functionality that have the lowest CO2rich viscosity of any known concentrated amine based capture solvents. Additionally, these solvents do not undergo hydrolysis and disproportionation like closely related aminosilicone General Electric (GE)solvents. Most amine-based capture solvents require co-solvent in order to lower viscosity or dissolve solid carbamates formed upon CO2 capture, this invention eliminates the need for co-solvents. These diamine solvents developed at PNNL in collaboration with GE have shown CO2-rich viscosity of 43 cP at 50 mol% loading. The diamine solvent has shown good recyclability over five CO2addition and stripping cycles and thermal stability, which makes it good candidate for keeping overall solvent costs low.
PAINTABLE HYDROPHOBIC AND LUBRICANT-INFUSED SURFACE COATINGS AND PROCESSES FOR MAKING AND USING SAME
Compositions and processes are disclosed for forming hydrophobic coatings and lubricant-infused surface coatings. Coatings may be applied to various substrates without prior chemical or temperature treatment of the substrates and over large and irregular surfaces. Coatings are self-healing, anti-fouling, and have enhanced lifetimes.
Autonomous Sensor Fish to Support Advanced Hydropower Development
An improved sensor fish with robust design and enhanced measurement capabilities. This sensor fish contains sensors for acceleration, rotation, magnetic field intensity, pressure, and temperature. A low-power microcontroller collects data from the sensors and stores up to 5 minutes of data on a non-volatile flash memory. A rechargeable battery supplies power to the sensor fish. A recovery system helps locating sensor fish. The package, when ready for use is nearly neutrally buoyant and thus mimics the behavior of an actual fish.
SHEAR ASSISTED EXTRUSION APPARATUS, TOOLS, AND METHODS
This invention allows for direct cooling of extrusions in Shear Assisted Processing and Extrusions (ShAPE). Coolant can be passed through the die, close by the die, or even through the mandrel while rotating/stationary. Cooling the extrusion immediately after it exits the die, as opposed to natural cooling or cooling after exiting the machine, has multiple benefits in various alloys and situations.
Brachytherapy Seed with Fast Dissolving Matrix for Optimal Delivery of Radionuclides to Cancer Tissue
A system, method and device for treating tumor cells utilizing a resorbable therapy seed made up of microspheres containing a beta- or alpha-particle-emitting radiation source and a resorbable polymer matrix. These seeds are implanted within the tumor and then rapidly dissolved so as to release the microspheres from the polymer matrix. These microspheres then spread within a preselected target area and provide radiation therapy in a predetermined amount and at a preselected rate according the specific needs and necessities of the users. The configuration of the microspheres, the types of radiation provided and the location and use of these microspheres provides desired localized treatment to target cells while preferentially avoiding or minimizing undesired damage to surrounding tissue. The present invention provides a method for making the seeds, as well as a method for utilizing the seeds as a part of the treatment method.
