Project Development
Sandia National Labs will offer Project Development and Deployment Assistance (PDDA), which will continue the momentum from the Technical Assistance Program by working with communities to develop an energy storage solution for their community. In addition to the energy challenges that communities across the country face, many also feel the strain of technical and financial resource challenges. PDDA aims to help remove those barriers for those communities by providing engineering and financial support to further develop completed Technical Assistance Assessments into tangible results.
Project Development and Deployment Assistance (PDDA) can include:
- Provide engineering assistance to determine realistic application(s)
- Model energy storage systems and other distributed energy resources to determine equipment sizing for optimum cost benefit
- Support project programing development including safety, scope, schedule, and budget
- Work with applicants to ensure adequate funding/financing
- Assess how much DOE financial assistance is required
- Work with applicant to develop implementation team
- Support development of Requests for Information (RFI) and Requests for Proposals (RFP)
- Review proposals and vet technologies
- Develop conceptual electrical plans for microgrids and power distribution systems utilizing energy storage
- Review and vet distributed resources and control methods
- Review contract documents to ensure requirement compliance
- Review commissioning plans and testing protocols for both factory tests and field installations
- Provide technical support during procurement, construction, and commissioning
- Conduct operational performance data review and analysis
- Provide analysis and develop algorithms to optimize operations
