Artists can express their interest by May 16th here.

The selected artist will engage with researchers supporting the Department of Energy’s Water Power Technologies Office, visiting with them in their laboratories, offices, and/or in the field. Inspired by their engagements, the artist will produce art using the medium of their choice. The artist will be provided with a $1,000 honorarium, and their travel expenses will be covered at government per diem rates.

The benefits of leveraging an artist-in-residence are well-documented. Hosting an artist can allow the Lab to:

  • inject fresh creative perspectives
  • foster collaboration among staff
  • encourage experimentation and innovation
  • provide exposure to new artistic practices
  • generate new ideas by bringing an outside artist's unique viewpoint to the Laboratory
  • support the artist's career development by offering them a dedicated space and time to create new work

Requirements for selected artist:

  • Must be willing and able to enter into an agreement with PNNL
  • Must participate in virtual engagements both before and after the one week on campus
  • Must present a seminar to share their experience after the conclusion of the residency
  • Must provide their own art supplies

Express your interest here by May 16th!

We look forward to hearing from you!
