Biography

Rebecca (Becky) Jones is the Interim Group Leader for the Security Systems Optimization Technical Group whose mission is to deliver global critical asset protection through integrated risk analysis, optimized security operations, and specialized training. Experts in this group address the entire system of security needs to determine and integrate the appropriate combination of technology and people solutions with reliable project execution. 

Rebecca is the National Security Directorate Project Coordinator Advocate co-lead. She was also the International Engagement and Capacity Building Program Manager responsible for execution oversight, risk management, and expert delivery for a portfolio comprising 17 Nonproliferation and Arms Control projects. Rebecca has had a role in helping build future leaders via the Human Capital Development Project Manager, which falls under the Office of International Nuclear Safeguards (NA-241). In this role, Rebecca led the PNNL effort for developing the next generation of safeguards experts through NA-241’s Human Capital Development. She also contributes to strategies and efforts on shaping the appropriate growth approach for staffing and for engaging universities to enhance their programs with safeguards-related course work. Rebecca was also the project manager of Export Control and Related Board Security Program course development projects, which utilized instructional system design to create course materials that engage the participants. 

Rebecca originally joined PNNL as a high school intern, supporting projects in what is now the Energy and Environmental Directorate. Since then, her career has spanned PNNL projects and facilities, including working in the Radiochemical Processing Laboratory, serving as a subject matter expert in PNNL Project Management Maintenance and Operations, and supporting the Radiation Portal Monitor Project. Her work has also spanned the PNNL sponsor base, including the Department of Energy, National Nuclear Security Administration, Environmental Management, Office of Science, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Defense, National Aeronautics and Space Administration, and private customers.

Rebecca graduated from Washington State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration. She earned a Project Management Professional certification through the Project Management Institute and an Earned Value Professional certification through the Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering International.
