Biography

Katherine Wolf has nearly 20 years of experience managing research programs primarily focused on computing, transportation systems, modeling and simulation, data science, cybersecurity, and analytics projects for national security, defense, and open science sponsors. She currently serves as thrust area lead for Pacific Northwest National Laboratory’s Predictive Phenomics Initiative, focusing on computational methods to identify phenotypic signatures for predicting and controlling the phenome. Wolf also manages PNNL's contributions to the RAPTER project, or the Rapid Assessment of Platform Technologies to Expedite Response, in which scientists leveraged machine learning and artificial intelligence to search the scientific literature for knowledge on how to build effective vaccines against new infectious viruses and bacteria.

Her other efforts include a suite of multi-laboratory projects exploring new technologies and solutions for increased energy efficiency within transportation systems, new computing solutions, and transmission planning.

Before joining PNNL, Wolf was an intelligence analyst for the Federal Bureau of Investigation, responsible for assessing complex computer intrusions into government networks. She has been the principal investigator on several policy and program analysis efforts, studying research, development, and technology readiness issues for intelligence and counterintelligence agencies.
