Biography

Dr. Anil Krishna Battu is a materials scientist working with the Terrestrial-Atmospheric Processes team in PNNL’s Environmental Molecular Sciences Division and the Environmental Molecular Sciences Laboratory (EMSL) user program. Battu received his BS and MS in mechanical engineering from India while working for the Indian Space Research Organization. He did his master’s project at the International Advanced Research Centre for Powder Metallurgy and New Materials in India. He then attended the University of Texas at El Paso, for his PhD. Battu collaborates with Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory to perform synchrotron-based experiments with their advance light source user facility. 

Battu has performed research in areas, such as metals, ceramics, semiconductors, nanostructured gas sensors, and transparent conducting oxides. He has extensive user experience in nanoengineered materials developed by physical vapor deposition sputtering techniques (direct current, radio frequency, cathodic arc sputtering, E-beam, and pulsed laser deposition) with extensive knowledge and strong technical background to support various fields with an emphasis on materials processing and its characterization. As a part of his internship at EMSL during his PhD, he worked on 3-D printed polymers and performed light source experiments at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. ​​
