Amanda Schoch is chief communications officer at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL). She shapes the Laboratory’s communications strategy and serves as a strategic advisor to senior leaders on communicating institutional priorities, organizational decisions, and emerging issues. She also leads the communications organization, guiding internal and external efforts that translate complex information, strengthen PNNL’s reputation, and build understanding and support among staff, partners, policymakers, and other stakeholders.

Schoch joined PNNL in 2021 following a distinguished career in the U.S. Intelligence Community. She previously served as chief communications officer and assistant director of national intelligence for strategic communications at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, where she held several senior communications and legislative affairs roles. In 2015, she completed a joint duty assignment with the National Security Agency, working with agency leadership to develop and implement a new organizational model.

Schoch earned a master’s degree in national security from Johns Hopkins University and a bachelor’s degree in communication from the University of Maryland.
