Storms Named to Executive Director for Performance Management at PNNL

New director will also serve as the national laboratory’s chief risk officer

RICHLAND, Wash.Dana Storms has been named executive director for Performance Management and chief risk officer at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory.

Storms has 25 years of experience in government and commercial sectors, leading teams and programs and managing performance-based contracts with U.S. government agencies, universities, industry and nonprofit organizations. 

In her new role, Storms will lead a team of 70 staff accountable for a broad scope of enterprise-level activities, including oversight of the Department of Energy prime contract for the management and operation of PNNL. Battelle manages and operates PNNL for DOE under the contract, which was worth $1.24 billion in fiscal year 2021.

The Office of Performance Management also develops and reports on a comprehensive set of performance metrics and includes PNNL’s auditing, requirements and records management and quality assurance activities.

Storms most recently served as PNNL’s prime contract manager, where she was responsible for the interpretation, revision and implementation of the DOE contract. She also served as division director for Requirements and Records Management

Before joining PNNL in 2016, Storms worked for 10 years at Idaho National Laboratory in Idaho Falls. There, she led the Contracts Management organization, and from 2006–2010, she developed and led INL’s award-winning small business program.

Storms is an Idaho native and earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Idaho in Moscow.
