Shaw Joins Sustainable Energy & Fuels Advisory Board
Wendy Shaw to join editorial advisory board for an initial two-year term
Wendy Shaw, a chemist at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), joined the editorial advisory board for the journal Sustainable Energy & Fuels. Her initial two-year term began in September 2022.
Sustainable Energy & Fuels is published by the United Kingdom’s Royal Society of Chemistry. The journal publishes work focused on advancing sustainable energy technologies. The journal particularly emphasizes on innovative work, both in concept and approach. Specific research topics span disciplines including chemistry, physics, biology, and materials science and engineering.
“I’m excited to work with Sustainable Energy & Fuels,” said Shaw. “Developing new sustainable energy technologies is critical for our future.”
Members of the editorial advisory board play a role in advocating for the journal and shaping its future content. They act as advisors and peer reviewers, raising the visibility of the journal by publishing outstanding work.
Shaw currently serves as the Chief Science and Technology Officer of the Physical and Computational Sciences Directorate at PNNL. In this role, she is responsible for identifying relevant, compelling science and technology challenges for future advancement. She leads collective efforts to maintain a timely, actionable, and cohesive directorate research strategy.
A member of the Washington State Academy of Sciences, Shaw’s research focuses on learning from and mimicking nature at the intersection of chemistry and materials. Her projects fall into two broad areas: developing a fundamental understanding of the role of proteins in biomineralization processes and designing enzyme-inspired catalysts for renewable energy.
