Patricia Huestis Earns Prestigious Fellowship from the University of Notre Dame
Congratulations to Patricia Huestis, IDREAM early career member, on receiving the Arthur J. Schmitt Leadership Fellowship in Science and Engineering. A nuclear physicist, her research focuses on how radiation interacts with materials, such as gibbsite and boehmite. Radiation is found in the extreme environments inside Hanford Site nuclear waste tanks, induces chemical and physical changes in the material as well as the surroundings. Huestis is part of IDREAM's cross-cutting research thrust in radiolysis and radiation dynamics and a graduate research assistant at the University of Notre Dame.
The fellowship recognizes top graduate students at the University of Notre Dame who serve their communities. Recipients of the fellowship receive a full-ride scholarship and additional benefits.
The Interfacial Dynamics in Radioactive Environments and Materials (IDREAM) Energy Frontier Research Center is funded by the Department of Energy, Office of Science, Basic Energy Sciences.
