Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) cybersecurity expert Lori Ross O’Neil has been re-elected to the board of directors of (ISC)² for a second term. (ISC)² is a global leader in the training and certification of cybersecurity professionals. The organization has more than 160,000 members working across the globe in cyber, information, software, IT, and infrastructure security.

“I am truly humbled that the members believe that my service to them and the profession has been valuable—enough so that they’ve honored me with another term,” said O’Neil.

The 13-member board is comprised of (ISC)² members—all volunteers—that provide strategy, governance, and oversight for the organization that grants cybersecurity certifications to qualifying candidates. O’Neil began her second elected term on January 1, 2022, and will serve a three-year term. She was also voted by the board members to remain in her role as board vice-chairperson.

“Serving on the board of a global cybersecurity professional organization these last three years has helped me realize that the challenges in this space are truly being experienced by everyone in the profession across the globe,” said O’Neil. “Meeting and talking with members has driven home the point that we are all on the same team working towards a safer and secure cyber world.”

O’Neil is a cybersecurity engineer with more than 20 years of experience in cybersecurity and information technology. In her current role in PNNL’s Computing and Analytics Division, she leads multidisciplinary cybersecurity projects in pursuit of novel approaches to protect our critical national infrastructures.
