You can’t fix what you don’t understand. In order to develop better treatments, it is vital to understand how the human body works when it is healthy and what goes wrong to cause disease. Leveraging Department of Energy (DOE) strengths in technology development and computer science, researchers at PNNL have made substantial contributions to an improved understanding of human functions in health and disease.

This talk will provide specific examples of discoveries in cancer diagnosis and treatment, the biology of viral diseases including COVID, and further understanding of other diseases including diabetes and Alzheimer’s disease.
