The global lithium-Ion battery demand is currently outpacing supply and causing constraints in multiple areas, including supply of materials to support battery cell production. Recently, most news in the United States has focused on the efforts of battery cell production companies to ramp up and meet the demands of the car manufacturers that are scrambling to push electric vehicles (EVs) out the door. The current challenge is to rapidly increase the upstream side of the cell supply chain and do it as locally as possible. This presentation, given by Mark Willey, will review the current state of the market and the main U.S. manufacturers of cells and materials in the EV and non-EV space. Additionally, this presentation will cover the challenges U.S. suppliers face to support the fast growth of the EV market.
