Supercritical Fluid Fabrication of Metal Nanowires and Nanorods Templated by Multi-walled Carbon Nanotubes

Abstract

A rapid, direct and clean approach has been developed to synthesize metal (Pd, Ni and Cu) nanowires and nanorods using multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) as templates and supercritical CO2 as the reaction medium. Filling of metals into MWCNTs to form nanowires or nanorods was easily achieved by the simple hydrogen reduction of metal-b-diketone complexes in supercritical CO2.
