Biography

Dr. Lambeets is a Material Scientist working with the Material Discovery team in PNNL’s Physical & Computational Sciences Division. Lambeets has a strong background in heterogeneous catalysis, atom probe microscopy (APM) techniques, field-assisted surface chemistry and CO2 valorization. His expertise includes the fabrication of catalytically active model nanoparticles and the CO2 hydrogenation on their surface at the molecular scale using field ion microscopy, field emission microscopy, and in situ atom probe tomography. This approach aims to understand the synergistic influences existing between reactivated gases and solid surface structures. Those mechanisms are the keystone for mastering both heterogeneous catalysis and corrosion.

Dr. Lambeets is also pushing the limits of APM to study surface phenomena in the presence of a very high electric field and the development of the operando atom probe dedicated to mapping surface reactions in real-time at the molecular scale. Dr. Lambeets focuses on understanding the influence of strong external electric fields on metallic oxidation, hydrogenation, and nitrogen dissociation.
