Sophie Lehmann
Sophie Lehmann
Biography
Sophie Lehmann is an Earth scientist with a background in geology, environment, and isotope geochemistry. She studies environmental, climatic, and nuclear signatures preserved in natural and anthropogenic records and lab environmental studies. Her research interests include the interactions of waters, plants, animals, and Earth’s surface materials and what these relationships can tell us about their surroundings (i.e., environment, climate, changes in landscape and land use, and migration patterns). She explores topics in nuclear forensics, biofuel production, and environmental science using stable and radiogenic isotope signatures and mass spectrometry (e.g., IRMS). Lehmann received her BA at the College of Wooster (geology), her MS in geology at the Miami University of Ohio, and her PhD in Earth and planetary sciences at Johns Hopkins University.
