Scott Warnick
Scott Warnick
Biography
Scott Warnick has over 20 years of experience in the industrial sector as a practicing automation and control system electrical engineer and project manager. He has broad experience in industrial control systems, including energy management systems, metals and mining, water and wastewater, and network architecture and protection systems. He joined Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) in the Cyber-Physical Systems Engineering group late 2023.
Starting his engineering career in 2003, Warnick spent over a decade in an engineering consultant role, providing control system panel designs and architecture, control system process control strategies, and associated programmable logic controller (PLC) and human-machine interface (HMI) configurations, control logic, and human interfaces.
Starting in 2013, Warnick began work in the heavy industrial manufacturing sector, providing controls and automation engineering and process support for a wide variety of large-scale industrial equipment. Within a few years he transitioned to a leadership position, managing a diverse group of automation, networking, and process control engineers.
In addition to work in hydroelectric system modeling and controls, Warnick’s research at PNNL has primarily revolved around cybersecurity tools, testbed development, and grid/system stability research for energy and industrial control systems (ICS).
