Biography

Nick Huggett is a chemist with the Ecosystem Interfaces team in PNNL’s Environmental Molecular Sciences Division and the Environmental Molecular Sciences Laboratory (EMSL) user program. He has been at PNNL since 2016 and joined EMSL, the Environmental Molecular Sciences Laboratory, in 2018. Huggett is currently a contact for inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICPMS) and assists users in running and preparing their samples for elemental and isotopic analysis. He also works with EMSL staff in the sample prep and analysis of a variety of carbon isotope labeling experiments on isotope ratio mass spectrometry (IRMS).

Research Interest

  • Investigates root-rhizosphere interactions by both in situ and ex situ measurements using a variety of analytical techniques, including LA-IRMS, EA-IRMS, and LIBS

  • Performs 13C labeling experiments in switchgrass and microbial mats

  • Conducts analysis of metal leachates via element XR ICPMS

Education
