Biography

Beginning at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in 1991, Ken Wagnon’s research has focused on vadose zone studies to characterize sediments surrounding single-shell tank farms and to investigate contaminant migration of soil and groundwater. In 2004, he began conducting research utilizing thermal ionization mass spectrometry (TIMS). Wagnon has become a subject matter expert in the analysis of actinide elements via TIMS. In 2012, he became the particle task lead for the tri-party agreement program in support of the Hanford site and has continued in this role to the present. This role oversees the efforts of about 15 staff members performing gamma analysis, sample processing, optical microscopy, electron microscopy, secondary ion mass spectrometry, and TIMS along with data review and reporting of data to the program sponsor.
