Karen Noyes
Karen Noyes
Biography
Karen Noyes joined Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) in 2004 and is an advisor in the Analytical Chemistry and Instrumentation group with expertise in environmental samples analysis and actinide analysis by mass spectrometry. As a technical staff member, she has supported research and development efforts in areas of nuclear non-proliferation and materials analysis. Her past work includes method development for trace analysis of nuclear materials in the environment, improvements in mass spectrometry analysis techniques, and purification of actinides. Noyes is currently leading the Bulk Analysis by Mass Spectrometry capability.
Prior to PNNL, she received a Doctor of Science degree in nuclear chemical engineering and waste management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where her research focused on the environmental speciation of uranium and the synthesis of ion-imprinted resins for actinide separations for the back end of the nuclear fuel cycle.
