Biography

Jung Hoon Lee received a BS in physics from Yonsei University and a PhD in physics from SUNY Stony Brook University. His research interests lie in the fields of artificial neural networks and computational neuroscience. For his doctoral research, he developed neuromorphic architectures and learning algorithms suitable for CMOL CrossNets proposed by his PhD advisor, Professor Likharev. After graduation, he studied neural correlates of auditory cognition at University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and Dartmouth College. At Boston University and Allen Institute for Brain Science, he developed cortical column models to seek neural mechanisms underlying high-level cognitive functions such as decision-making and selective attention, analyzed neural data using machine learning (ML) algorithms, and proposed novel learning algorithms for safer and more explainable ML.
