High Performance Computing Engineer


Evan Felix is a high performance computing engineer with the Advanced Scientific Computing team in PNNL’s Environmental Molecular Sciences Division and the Environmental Molecular Sciences Laboratory (EMSL) user program. He is a system administrator and developer for EMSL’s molecular science computing capability. Felix has specific responsibilities in operating the Cascade Supercomputer, as well as the new Tahoma Supercomputer. He is also a software developer for performance metrics and display for systems at EMSL and PNNL. In addition, Felix works with large storage systems design and implementation efforts across universities and government sites. Evan has been operating high performance computers and filesystems at EMSL for over 18 years. 

Research Interests 

  • Linux File Systems, Lustre, Ceph, BeeGFS, and other parallel file systems 

  • Creating, maintaining, and monitoring large scale computational systems for scientific research using high performance computing systems. 

  • Large scale dataset visualization
